Pandorum (2009)

Now that the newness of the WII has worn off, I decided to jump back into my comfort zone by watching a bunch of horror flicks. My first choice for review is the Sci-fi/horror combo Pandorum.

Plot / Two crew members are stranded on a spacecraft and quickly - and horrifically - realize they are not alone. Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It's pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can't remember anything: Who are they? What is their mission? With Lt. Payton staying behind to guide him via radio transmitter, Cpl. Bower ventures deep into the ship and begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the spacecraft's shocking, deadly secrets are revealed...and the astronauts find their own survival is more important than they could ever have imagined.

This was an original and very entertaining sci-fi/horror film. It was extremely well thought out, and followed a well-crafted script that maintained a very nice flow. More importantly, it had enough darkness, character development and twists to make any horror fan applaud. This has to be one of the best of this genre since Event Horizon. With the tremendous combination of dark scenes, fast moving monsters, and foreboding isolation, it is necessary viewing.

  1. Funny, because I HATED this movie. The nonsensical "twist" in the end was downright laughable. I saw this movie in theater and neither me or my boyfriend were impressed.

But to each his own... :)
