The Philadelphia Experiment (2012)

With the rest of the family our taking in the Illuminati Princess Taylor Swift at Heinz Field, I decided to make it a movie afternoon. Although, I did pick up a variety of horror and Sci-Fi flicks, I decided to take on the 2012 reboot of the classic The Philadelphia Experiment.

Plot/ A secret government research project tries reviving the World War II project the Philadelphia Experiment, which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. When the experiment succeeds, it brings back the original ship (the Eldridge) that disappeared during the first test in 1943 - which brings death and destruction to the 21st century. It's up to the sole survivor of the first experiment and his granddaughter to stop it

As a fan of the original Philadelphia Experiment movie, and a researcher into the possible realities of the story, I was interested to see what the SyFy Channel came up with in their reboot. While they came up with was an interesting, albeit over-the-top approach that really worked. Yes, it was not perfect having a shaky script, a incoherent storyline and some poor CGI, but that was expected. It was nice to see the use Michael Pare from the original movie take part in this one, while it is very different from that effort it was still awesome. Overall, the acting was decent and the use of cheesy CGI was kept to a minimum. Is this one perfect, no way, but it was one of the better efforts to come from a made for SyFy original. If you have 90 minutes and need something mindless, this one is for you.
