Final Girl (2015)

After having my night poisoned by the dreadful visions of The Ouija Exorcism, I decided to give another movie a try (in between American Horror Story: Freakshow episodes). Luckily, there was one waiting in the 2015 entry Final Girl.

Plot/ A man teaches a young woman how to become a complete weapon. Later she is approached by a group of sadistic teens that kill blonde women for unknown reasons. The hunting season begins.

This was a lot different from what I was expecting when I saw it sitting in front of the television yesterday. While I knew it would not be perfect, I did not expect the movie to feature subtle twists and a schlock-filled premise. Of course, there are some flaws with it acting more as a twisted drama than thriller or horror flick. But, that is just fine, as it was very stylish and had a minimal cinematic quality that truly made it better than it probably should have been. Yes, the dialog was uneven and corny, but that fit in with the noir driven pulp undertones that were layered beneath the surface. In the end, this was not the best movie, but it was an entertaining way to pass some time and made for a fun afternoon.
